The present research work has the purpose of determining the effect generated by family overprotection in the cognitive and social development of the students of the I.E.P. Líderes de Guadalupe, 2018. The population is composed of 25 students and the sample was 20 students to whom the measuring instruments were applied. The procedures used were those provided by the statistics, beginning with the construction of tables, the construction of figures and the application of the hypothesis test to test the research hypothesis. It was obtained in family overprotection that 70.0% of the students have a regular level and 50.0% of them have a bad level in cognitive and social development. It has also been found that there is a negative and significant effect of family overprotection on cognitive and social development (p <0.05). It was concluded that there is a negative and significant effect of family overprotection on the cognitive and social development of the students of the I.E.P. Líderes de Guadalupe, 2018.
