Abstract
Abstract The objective of my research is to “Determine the demographic, socioeconomic, habitual and congenital factors associated with high blood pressure in older adults” in the district of La Esperanza, 2024; The type of research was applied and the study design was case-control. The sample was made up of 117 adults over sixty years of age who live in the district of La Esperanza, from which 39 cases (adults with high blood pressure) and 78 controls (adults without high blood pressure) were obtained. The data collection technique was survey. Finally, the conclusions obtained were that 33.3% of older adults have high blood pressure; while 66.7% do not have this disease. The variables that were significant in the model are cigarette consumption with an OR=12.632 (1.412-112.979), alcohol consumption with an OR= 13.737 (1.880-100.375), diabetes with an OR=9.194 (1.095- 77.161), body mass index with an OR=16.925 (1.543-185.669), family history with an OR=11.709 (1.178–116.351) and physical activity with an OR=0.028 (0.002–0.520); and according to the Nagelkerke's R2 coefficient is 0.893, meaning that the regression model is valid
