Abstract
The present investigation determined the impact of metal smoke on the respiratory Health of workers in the steel works at the SIDERPERÚ Company. The objective of this thesis is to determine the level of metallic fumes from the smelting process, which has as a secondary effect the emission of suspensions in the air of solid metallic particles generated during the condensation process, and its impact on the respiratory health of the workers who are exposed to dangerous chemical agents causing lung diseases as a result of the metallic fumes from the steel workshop of the SIDERPERU-CHIMBOTE company in 2016. It was found that the contamination levels of metallic fumes are: Aluminum (7.7% High) (9.6% Moderate) (1.9% low) (80.8% Inappreciable), Zinc (3.8% High) (96.2% Inappreciable), Manganese (5.8% High) (11.8% Moderate) (82.7% Underappreciated), Silicon (5.8% Moderate) (94.2% Underappreciated), Lead (3.8% High) (1.9% Moderate) (94.2% Underappreciated), Copper (7.7% High) (15.4 % Moderate) (76.9% Priceless) and Iron (7.7% High) (15.4% Moderate) (76.9% Priceless). The analysis of the occupational medical evaluations of the workers in the steel mill area of SIDERPERÚ was carried out, finding that 94.23% of the Operators maintain normal respiratory capacity.
