Abstract
Objective: To compare the in vitro antibacterial effect of Endodontic Sealant Cements, Endofill, Sealapex, and AH Plus, against Porphyromonas Endodontalis. Material and method: The in vitro antibacterial effect of Endodontic Sealant Cements was compared: Endofill, Sealapex, and AH Plus, against Porphyromonas Endodontalis. To do this, the bacteria were cultivated and the different endodontic sealant cements were placed for 24 hours; to then measure in mm. inhibition halos according to the Duraffourd scale. Results: The in vitro antibacterial effect of endodontic sealant cements: it was observed that the sealant based on zinc oxide and eugenol (Endophil) and the epoxy resin based sealer (AH Plus) were effective; while Sealapex calcium hydroxide based sealant was not effective against Porphyromonas Endodontalis. Conclusion: Porphyromonas Endodontalis bacteria are more susceptible to Endofill sealer cement, with minor haloes being observed; whereas with the cement sealer based on calcium hydroxide (Sealapex) it was not effective; presenting a standard deviation of 11.1.
