dc.descriptionThe study aimed to "Determine the antibacterial activity of extracts from the leaves of Croton Alnifolius (Tunga) against strains of Salmonella typhi and Escherichia coli in vitro. In this study, we used the diffusion method of Kirby Bauer amended, which was given to concentrations of 8, 16, 24, and 32 μg in 10, 15, 30 and 40 μl respectively, of the hexane, ethanol and aqueous the leaves of Croton alnifolius (Tunga) strains of Salmonella typhi and Escherichia coli, allowed to incubate for a period of 24 hours and then proceeded to read out. The readings of the halos of inhibition showed that concentrations from 16 μg in 15 μl hexanol extract from the leaves of Croton Alnifolius (Tunga), effective antibacterial effect was observed for both Salmonella typhi and Escherichia coli. However, in ethanol and aqueous extracts of leaves of Croton Alnifolius (Tunga) only got effectiveness, the maximum concentration of 32 μg administered in 40 μl, in both strains. From these results we conclude the following: That extracts from Croton Alnifolius (Tunga) have effective antibacterial activity concentration of 32 μg in 40 μl against Salmonella typhi and Escherichia coli in vitroes_ES
dc.description.abstractEl estudio tuvo como objetivo “Determinar la actividad antibacteriana de los extractos de las hojas de Croton Alnifolius (Tunga) frente a cepas de Salmonella Typhi y Escherichia coli in vitro”. En esta investigación, se utilizó el método de difusión de Kirby Bauer modificado, para lo cual se administró concentraciones de 8, 16, 24, y 32 μg en 10, 15, 30 y 40 μl respectivamente, de los extractos hexánico, etanólico y acuoso de las hojas de Croton alnifolius (Tunga) a cepas de Salmonella Typhi y Escherichia coli, se dejó en incubación por un periodo de 24 horas y se procedió luego a dar lectura. Las lecturas de los halos de inhibición demostraron que a partir de concentraciones de 16 μg en 15 μl del extracto hexanólico de las hojas de Croton Alnifolius (Tunga), se obtuvo efecto antibacteriano eficaz, tanto para Salmonella Typhi como para Escherichia coli. Sin embargo; en los extractos etanólico y acuoso de las hojas de Croton Alnifolius (Tunga) solo obtuvo eficacia, la máxima concentración administrada de 32 μg en 40 μl, en ambas cepas. De estos resultados se concluye lo siguiente: Que los extractos de Croton Alnifolius (Tunga) tienen actividad antibacteriana efectiva a la concentración de 32 μg en 40 μl frente a Salmonella Typhi y Escherichia coli in vitro.es_ES
