Relación entre depresión y actividad física en estudiantes de medicina

Abstract
Evaluar si existe relación entre depresión y actividad física en estudiantes de medicina. Material y Métodos: Estudio observacional descriptivo de corte transversal y relacional, que evaluó a 204 estudiantes de medicina de 1° a 6° año de la Universidad Nacional de Trujillo. Se les realizó la encuesta de depresión Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) y para categorizar el nivel de actividad física se usó el cuestionario IPAQ en su versión corta. Los datos fueron procesados en los programas IBM® SPSS® Statistics y Excel 2021 mediante la prueba de chi cuadrado (p ≤ 0,05; IC=95%). Resultados: Se encontró que 64.22% de estudiantes posee depresión, del total de la muestra 35.78% posee depresión leve, 19.12% depresión moderada, 7.35% posee depresión moderadamente severa y 1.96% depresión severa. Se halló que 10.78% de estudiantes presentan nivel bajo de actividad física, 15.69% tuvieron un nivel moderado y 73.53% un nivel alto. En el análisis estadístico mediante la prueba de Chi cuadrado, se obtuvo la relación entre depresión y actividad física, obteniéndose un valor de p=0.68. Conclusión: No se halló evidencia significativa de que exista relación entre depresión y actividad física en estudiantes de medicina.

The data were processed in IBM® SPSS® Statistics and Excel 2021 programs using the chi- square test (p ≤ 0.05; CI=95%). Results: It was found that 64.22% of students had depression, of the total sample 35.78% had mild depression, 19.12% had moderate depression, 7.35% had moderately severe depression and 1.96% had severe depression. It was found that 10.78% of students had a low level of physical activity, 15.69% had a moderate level and 73.53% a high level. In the statistical analysis using the Chi-square test, the relationship between depression and physical activity was obtained, with a value of p=0.68. Conclusion: There was no significant evidence of a relationship between depression and physical activity in medical students.
