Abstract
Este estudio observacional, descriptivo, de corte transversal. Tuvo como objetivo determinar el nivel de conocimiento de las madres sobre prevención en salud oral de niños del Hospital Leoncio Prado – 2024.
La muestra estuvo conformada por un total de 290 madres de niños menores de tres años, atendidas en el programa de CRED del Hospital Leoncio Prado. Se aplicó un cuestionario validado de 24 preguntas de opción múltiple y se categorizó según la escala de Stanones.
El nivel de conocimiento en el 77.2% de las madres evaluadas fue malo, mientras que el 22,8% presentó un nivel de conocimiento regular. El grupo etario de 25 a 31 años (85 madres), que representa el 29.3% del total, obtuvo un nivel de conocimiento malo. Las madres con grado de instrucción secundaria (111 madres), que representa el 38.3% del total, presentaron un nivel de conocimiento malo. Las madres con un solo hijo (91 madres), que representan el 31.4% del total, obtuvieron un nivel de conocimiento malo.
El nivel de conocimiento de las madres sobre prevención en salud oral de niños del Hospital Leoncio Prado fue malo. El grado de instrucción fue la única variable que presentó una relación estadísticamente significativa con el nivel de conocimiento.
This observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study aimed to determine the level of knowledge among mothers regarding oral health prevention for children at Leoncio Prado Hospital in 2024. The sample included a total of 290 mothers of children under three years old, who were attending the CRED program at Leoncio Prado Hospital. A validated questionnaire consisting of 24 multiple-choice questions was used and categorized according to the Stanones scale. Among the evaluated mothers, 77.2% had poor knowledge, while 22.8% exhibited moderate knowledge. The age group of 25 to 31 years (85 mothers), representing 29.3% of the total, had poor knowledge levels. Mothers with a secondary education level (111 mothers), comprising 38.3% of the total, also demonstrated poor knowledge levels. Similarly, mothers with only one child (91 mothers), representing 31.4% of the total, exhibited poor knowledge levels. The level of knowledge among mothers regarding oral health prevention for children at Leoncio Prado Hospital was found to be poor. Educational attainment was the only variable that showed a statistically significant relationship with the level of knowledge
