Abstract
The pursuit of better housing options has become a critical issue for many foreign students in Peru. This concern is particularly heightened among those with limited resources, who struggle to access a safe and quality environment that allows them to focus on their studies. The lack of suitable housing options translates not only into a deficient physical environment but also into a direct impact on students' academic performance. The situation is further complicated by the uncontrolled growth of the real estate sector, which offers precarious and poorly conditioned rooms. These accommodations not only affect students' quality of life but also degrade the visual image of the city and endanger its environmental integrity. The proliferation of low quality constructions highlights the urgent need for intervention to ensure a dignified and sustainable housing environment. In response to this scenario, the government has taken the initiative to promote the creation of university residences as a viable solution. In this context, the ongoing project for the National University of Jaén in Cajamarca stands out. This initiative aims not only to address the housing needs of low-income foreign students but also to harmoniously integrate with the characteristic natural environment of the area. The surroundings of the city of Jaén are distinguished by its dry forests and the diversity of flora and fauna it hosts. In this context, there is an opportunity to develop a university town that not only meets the housing needs of students but also aligns with the surrounding nature. The vision of a green and sustainable university town, integrated with its natural environment, becomes the central focus of this architectural and social project.
