Abstract
The objective of the research was to determine how the academic performance of nursing students in the V, VII, and IX cycles at the Valle Jequetepeque branch of the National University of Trujillo is related to mental health. To collect data, a descriptive correlational quantitative method was used, employing surveys and questionnaires administered to 85 students in the sample, processed with SPSS VERSION 25 and descriptive statistics. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used to assess the distribution of the variables “Mental Health” and “Academic Performance,” and the Spearman correlation test was employed to analyze the relationship between them. The findings show that 45% of students have a low level of mental health, 49% have a moderate level, and only 6% have a high level. Additionally, 54% exhibit low physical reactions, 58% have low psychological reactions, and 48% demonstrate low behavioral reactions. No student has poor academic performance; 46% have regular performance and 54% have good performance. In conclusion, there is a significant correlation, with a p-value of 0.299 and a bilateral significance of 0.005, indicating a low positive relationship between mental health and academic performance
