Abstract
The purpose of this descriptive, correlational, basic and cross-sectional study was to determine the relationship between the ceo-d index of children treated in the Dentistry service of the Víctor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital and the CPO-D index of their mothers or guardians, during In the period November - December of the year 2019, the sample consisted of 46 child-mother / guardian binomials. For the data collection, a file with two parts was used, one with general data and the second based on a clinical evaluation where their odontogram was recorded and their ceod index and CPOD, of the child and their mothers or guardians were found respectively. In children, the index was very high, with an average of 5.30 and a standard deviation of 4.15, and in the mother or guardian(a) very high with an average of 6.13 ± 3.77, Pearson's correlation coefficient of r = 0.524 positive, so it is concluded that the correlation exists (is different from zero), this direct relationship being what allows to infer that the higher the rate of caries of the mother or guardian (a) there is a tendency to report a higher index in the child or vice versa
