Abstract
The objective of this study was to determine the frequency of Escherichia coli cultures producing AmpC beta-lactamases (AmpC-BL) and/or metallo-betalactamases (MBL) evaluated through phenotypic tests, provided by the Hospital Distrital “Vista Alegre” La Libertad - Peru between September to December 2023. For this, were collected 80 cultures isolated from urinary infections, and identified as E. coli and that present resistance or intermediate resistance to beta-lactams which were evaluated by phenotypic tests if they were producers of AmpC betalactamase (AmpC-BL) using the method based on inhibitors with phenyl boronic acid, carbapenemases using the modified carbapenem inactivation method (mCIM) and metallobetalactamases (MBL) using the double-disc synergy (DDS) test with EDTA. In the 80 E. coli cultures, the frequency of AmpC-BL producers was 6.25%, producers of MBL was 1.25% and coproducer of both enzymes 1.25%.
