Abstract
El presente estudio tiene por objetivo analizar las interrelaciones entre conocimiento materno con respecto a Infecciones Respiratorias Agudas en menores de 5 años y el Cumplimiento del control de crecimiento y desarrollo, lo cual se realizó una investigación cuantitativa de diseño transversal correlacional, analizando una población de 1,980 madres de niños menores del programa CRED del Centro de Salud Materno Infantil El Milagro, tomando una muestra de 154 madres con un nivel de confianza de 93% (Z = 1.81) y un error de estimación de 7% mediante muestreo aleatorio simple, realizando una encuesta vía telefónica aplicando un cuestionario diseñado por Honorio (2002) cual consta de 20 preguntas y una lista de cotejo para analizar el cumplimiento de asistencia a los controles de crecimiento y desarrollo. Las principales conclusiones que se obtuvo fueron que la mayoría de las madres no cumplen con las actividades de los controles CRED, siendo el ítem menos cumplido el referente a vacunas; en cuanto al conocimiento sobre IRA, más de la mitad (55.9%) de las madres encuestadas se encuentran en el nivel de conocimiento medio y más de un tercio de las mismas (35.7%) se encuentran en el nivel de conocimiento bajo; la mayoría de madres se encuentran en el rango de 20 a 35 años (79.2%), tienen 2 hijos (60.4%) son de procedencia Urbana (88.3%), tienen secundaria completa (44.8%) y ninguna ocupación (93.5%) además se encontró relación significativa entre el cumplimiento del control de crecimiento y desarrollo con el conocimiento materno sobre IRA

The present study aims to analyze the interrelationships between maternal knowledge regarding Acute Respiratory Infections in children under 5 years of age and Compliance with growth and development control, which was carried out in a quantitative investigation of cross-sectional correlational design, analyzing a population of 1,980 mothers of children under the CRED program of the El Milagro Maternal and Child Health Center, taking a sample of 154 mothers with a confidence level of 93% (Z = 1.81) and an estimation error of 7% through simple random sampling, conducting a telephone survey applying a questionnaire designed by Honorio (2002) which consists of 20 questions and a checklist to analyze compliance with assistance to growth and development controls. The main conclusions that were obtained were that the majority of the mothers do not comply with the activities of the CRED controls, the item less fulfilled being the one referring to vaccines; Regarding knowledge about ARI, more than half (55.9%) of the surveyed mothers are at the medium level of knowledge and more than a third of them (35.7%) are at the low level of knowledge; Most mothers are in the range of 20 to 35 years (79.2%), have 2 children (60.4%) are of urban origin (88.3%), have completed secondary school (44.8%) and no occupation (93.5%). A significant relationship was found between compliance with growth and development control with maternal knowledge about ARF.
