Abstract
The Nursing professional must have knowledge and practices to provide comprehensive, safe and quality care, which combines the characteristics of general care and professionalized care. The objective of this study was: to determine the relation between the knowledge and practice of the nurse in enteral nutrition in critical patients, Santa Rosa Piura hospital, 2023. The methodology was quantitative because the variables were quantified, cross-sectional because the variable was studied at a certain time; Furthermore, it was correlational because it determined the relationship between the variables. The sample universe consisted of 50 nurses from the Intensive Care Unit of the Santa Rosa Hospital - Piura. Two data collection techniques were used: a questionnaire that measured the level of knowledge and a checklist to measure the type of practices, which were reliable according to Cronbach's Alpha and the Kuder – Richardson test (KR 20), respectively. The results obtained were: there is no relationship between the variables based on Spearman's Rho statistical test with a value of 0.125, which demonstrates a very low correlation, and a p-value equal to 0.496. Furthermore, 62.0% of nurses had a medium level of knowledge about enteral nutrition and 70.0% of nurses had inadequate practice. It was concluded that there is no relationship between knowledge and nursing practice in the management of enteral nutrition in critically ill patients at the Santa Rosa Hospital - Piura, 2023
