Abstract
The purpose of this research study was to establish the link between knowledge and practices related to biosafety measures among health personnel working at the Surgical Center of the Regional Teaching Hospital of Trujillo. This research has a quantitative approach, cross-sectional correlational descriptive type, a sample of 24 members of health personnel was selected. Two tools were utilized: a questionnaire to evaluate the level of knowledge about biosafety measures and a checklist to evaluate practices in biosafety measures. The findings indicate that 66.7% of health personnel possess a medium level of knowledge in biosafety, 33.3% have a high level and no low level cases were found. In relation to the practices of biosafety measures employed by nurses, it was noted that 79.2% of the staff demonstrated adequate practices, 20.8% demonstrated regular practices, and no deficient practices were identified. When analyzing the relationship between knowledge and practices regarding biosafety measures in health personnel among the study participants, it was noted that 37.5% of participants with a high knowledge level also exhibited adequate practices, while 25.0% Of the health personnel, their level of knowledge is medium and their level of practices varies between fair and good. Furthermore, a significant association was found between these variables, evidenced by a chi-square value of 4.80 with a probability of 0.028 indicates that there is a relationship between the variables
