Abstract
ABSTRACT Diabetic patients who have undergone lower limb amputation require greater care and adherence to insulin treatment, otherwise their recovery and performance in daily life could be affected. The objective of this study was to determine what is the effect of adherence to insulin dosage on glucose levels in diabetic patients with a lower limb amputated, attached to the Hospital II Chocope - Essalud period 2017- 2018, the type of study used was quantitative, descriptive-correlational method the sample consisted of 30 patients. the data collection instrument was the questionnaire and the technique applied was the interview. The results of this study indicate that 53.3% of the patients present adherence to insulin treatment with an average dose before and after amputation of 56.3 IU, p>0.05 and present an average glucose level of 107.8 mg/dl; contrary to the 46.7% of patients who do not adhere, with an average dose before amputation of 58.6 IU and 61.8 IU after this procedure, a significant value (p<.05) by the Wilcoxon test. The average glucose was 219.3 mg/dl, thus observing a highly significant difference (p<.01) by Student's t-test for comparison of independent groups, it is concluded that there is a beneficial effect of insulin dose adherence in these patients which is expressed in normal blood glucose values
