El objetivo de esta investigación fue la detección fenotípica de BLEE en E. coli aisladas de urocultivos en el Hospital Santa Isabel del distrito de Trujillo – Perú, entre marzo y octubre del 2021. Se aplicó un estudio de tipo descriptivo experimental de corte transversal. Se tomaron registros de 352 cultivos de orina, de los cuales 70 cultivos fueron positivas a E. coli y se realizó la detección fenotípica de BLEE mediante el método de confirmación de Jarlier. La frecuencia de cultivos de E. coli productoras de BLEE fue del 32,85%. En conclusión, se detectó fenotípicamente BLEE en 32.85% de cultivos de E. coli aisladas de urocultivos en el Hospital distrital Santa Isabel en el distrito de Trujillo–La Libertad, entre marzo a octubre del 2021.Urinary tract infection (UTI) is frequently caused by E. coli, and its treatment through the use of antibiotics is threatened by the presence of bacterial cultures producing extendedspectrum β-lactamases (ESBL).
