The coursemethodology used was the phenomenological perspective ofMartin Heidegger. The guiding question was posed to them: Tell me in detail what you live and how you live the mother of a child withDown syndrome (a)? process corresponded to the hermeneuticanalysis, which was considered the description and reduction, the development of units of meaning, analysis, and finally mediumvague and hermeneutic analysis itself. The findings show that thesemothers live an ex-sist, marked by uncertainty about the future for their children, from that perspective they feel authentic to live with them that future planning and the support given by the spouse and family . It is believed necessary to implement nursing interventionsfrom the initial design stage for these mothers so that the processhas suitable maternal them.El presente trabajo de estudio tiene como finalidad develar las vivencias de las madres con respecto a tener un niño con síndrome de Down, buscando descubrir y comprender la esencia del fenómeno se entrevistó a 15 madres de niños con síndrome de Down, en la ciudad de San Pedro de Lloc, Esta investigación inico el 1 de Mayo hasta el 12 de Julio del 2011. La trayectoria metodológica empleada fue la fenomenológica en la perspectiva de Martin Heidegger. La pregunta orientadora que se les planteó fue: ¿Cuénteme con detalle qué vive y cómo vive el ser madre de un niño o niña con síndrome de Down(a)? el proceso de análisis correspondió al hermenéutico, en la cual se consideró la descripción y reducción, la elaboración de las unidades de significado, el análisis vago y mediano y finalmente el análisis hermenéutico en sí. Los hallazgos demuestran que estas madres viven un ex-sistir, marcado por la incertidumbre acerca del futuro para sus hijos, en esa perspectiva ellas se sienten auténticas por vivir con ellos la planificación de ese futuro y por el apoyo que da el cónyuge y la familia.
