Para el abordaje teórico, se selecciono a Watson, con el cuidado tanspersonal; armonía entre mente/cuerpo/alma/naturealeza. A Le Breton, por su representación de la corporeidad como la manifestación del ser humano, en su incompletitud. A Kübler-Ross con el proceso de duelo por una pérdida. Metodologia: La recolección de información se ejecutó a través de la entrevista semiestructurada, la muestra de estudio fue constituida por 13 pacientes adultos mayores determinada por saturación del discurso de ambos sexos, hospitalizados con diagnóstico de diabetes mellitus, en sus primeros 7 días de postquirúrgico con amputación por pie diabetico. Resultados: se obtuvieron tres categorías con sus respectivas subcategorías: 1) Cuidado como proceso transpersonal: Confianza, conversar, acompañamiento y respeto a las creencias. 2) El cuerpo como sede del cuidado: Vigilar el dolor y confort. Y 3) Cuidado en la completitud e incompletitud: Ayudando a hacer real la pérdida del pie fantasma, dar tiempo para elaborar el duelo y ayudando a encontrar el significado en la pérdida. Conclusión: Esta investigación permitió identificar las potencialidades del cuidado, se comprobó la presencia de la calidad y calidez, se rescatan las vivencias y las experiencias de los adultos mayores con una pérdida corporal, se dislumbra el vínculo que existe entre el personal de enfermería (o) y el paciente amputado que vive una situación de pérdida.The present qualitative, exploratory, descriptive research was carried out with the aim of describing and analyzing nursing care from the perspective of the hospitalized elderly amputee.
