Se procesaron 493 muestras de pacientes que se realizaron el examen de HIV previo llenado de un consentimiento informado, las muestras fueron obtenidas mediante punciónvenosa y se procesaron con el test gensreen ultra, usando el equipo Stat fax 303 Plus. Los resultados obtenidos según género fueron: positivo en 33% para hombres y 23% para mujeres, y en cuanto a grupo etario, son los hombres de 18 a 29 años los mayormente infectados con 52% y mujeres de 30 a 39 años con 39%.
