The sample consisted of 108 who met the inclusion criteria. The data were processed with the statistical package for Social Sciences (SPSS), version 21.0. To measure the influence between variables, the Chi-square test was used. The results determine that 56.4% of mothers are in the young age, 47.2%, in relation to the level of education has primary level, 48.1%, are cohabiting and 45.4% have 3 to 5 children. The level of knowledge that predominated with 46.3% is regular and a relationship was found between maternal factors and the knowledge level of newborn care.El presente estudio es de tipo Descriptivo Correlacional, de corte Transversal con el objetivo de identificar factores Maternos: edad, paridad, estado civil, grado de Instrucción y su influencia en el nivel de conocimiento sobre el cuidado del recién nacido de las madres atendidas en el Hospital Apoyo de Cangallo. La muestra estuvo constituida por 108 que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión. Los datos fueron procesados con el paquete estadístico para Ciencias Sociales (SPSS), versión 21.0. Para medir la influencia entre variables se utilizó la prueba de Chi-cuadrado. Los resultados determinan que 56.4% de madres están en la edad joven, 47,2%, en relación al nivel de instrucción tiene nivel primario, 48,1%, son convivientes y 45.4% tienen de 3 a 5 hijos.
