Esta investigación, se realizó con la finalidad de evaluar la toxicidad aguda del extracto acuoso de las hojas de Ambrosia arborescens Mill. sobre los parámetros bioquímicos, hematológicos e histopatológicos de Rattus norvegicus var. albinus. Material y Métodos: Las hojas de Ambrosia arborescens Mill. fueron colectadas en la provincia de Julcán. Región La Libertad. Se realizó el ensayo Nº 423 de la OECD, formando los siguientes grupos experimentales cada uno conformado por 10 especímenes (5 machos y 5 hembras): Grupo Control, que recibió 2 mL solución salina fisiológica (SSF 0.9%), Grupo Problema I y II, a los que se les administró el extracto acuoso de hojas de Ambrosia arborescens Mill. en dosis de 300 y 2000 mg/Kg/día, respectivamente. El día 14 se realizó la medición de los parámetros bioquímicos (creatinina, GOT, GPT, colesterol y glucosa), hematológicos (serie roja, blanca y plaquetas) e histopatológicos. Resultados: El extracto acuoso de hojas de Ambrosia arborescens Mill. a dosis de 300 mg/kg/día y 2000 mg/kg no afectó a los diversos parámetros hematológicos relacionados a la hematopoyesis y leucopoyesis en ratas, excepto en el caso de las plaquetas cuyo número aumenta significativamente según las dosis, en las ratas hembras. Los parámetros bioquímicos de función renal y hepática estuvieron en los rangos normales, los niveles de colesterol total se reducieron significativamente en ratas machos y hembras a la dosis máxima (2000 mg/kg). En el análisis histopatológico, el tejido hepático y renal evidenciaron congestión leve. Conclusiones: El extracto acuoso de hojas de Ambrosia arborescens Mill. tiene un DL50 mayor de 2000 mg / kg y no evidencia alteraciones significativas en los parámetros bioquímicos, hematológicos e histopatológicos de Rattus novergicus var. albinus.ABSTRACT Introduction: Medicinal plants play an important role in the management of various diseases, so their use has become widespread, but the population uses plant species without taking into account the toxicity they may have. In the histopathological analysis, liver and kidney tissue showed mild congestion.
