Este estudio descriptivo se desarrolló con enfoque cuantitativo, mediante la técnica de la encuesta y como instrumento un cuestionario de 14 ítems, el cual fue aplicado a un total de 200 ciudadanos. La muestra poblacional es de tipo no probabilístico por conglomerados y de aleatorio simple, de 20 personas por manzana en el sector Semirústica Mampuesto. El cuestionario cuenta con un total de 14 ítems utilizando la escala de Likert, las cuales incluyeron preguntas de acuerdo al cuadro de operacionalización de variables como sensacionalismo, amarillismo, el titular, la fotografía, el texto y el impacto. Dicho instrumento permitió llegar a la conclusión que los lectores del sector Semirústica Mampuesto perciben que las portadas del diario Satélite están cargadas de sensacionalismo. La tipografía y el color empleado en el titular principal es llamativo, capta la atención. Asimismo, las fotografías son muy explícitas al mostrar el cuerpo de las víctimas de homicidios y accidentes con una leve difuminación. Además, se concluyó que en las portadas del diario Satélite se emplea un lenguaje coloquial; sin embargo, también contiene un poco del lenguaje vulgar.This research work has to describe the perception of the newspaper Satélite among readers in Trujillo. This descriptive study was developed with a quantitative approach, using the survey technique and a questionnaire of 14 items administered to a total of 200 citizens. The population sample is of a non-probabilistic cluster type and simple random sampling, with 20 people per block in the Semirústica Mampuesto sector. The questionnaire consists of a total of 14 items using the Likert scale, which included questions according to the operationalization of variables such as sensationalism, yellow journalism, headlines, photographs, text, and impact. This instrument allowed us to conclude that readers in the Semirústica Mampuesto sector perceive that the covers of the Satélite newspaper are filled with sensationalism, and the typography and color used in the headlines are eye-catching and grab attention. Additionally, the photographs are very explicit as they show the bodies of homicide and accident victims with slight blurring, which conveys a violent message.
