The results obtained from the present investigation around the patron feast to the apostle San Mateo, shows that the inhabitants are identified by their faith and devotion to their Patron; based on the belief and trust they have. Therefore, devotees deposit their ailments, needs; and the desire to get their petitions heard. In addition, they are the organizations responsible for carrying out the festivity through: the brotherhood, and together with the festivity committee are responsible for taking the necessary measures for good development. Being, the festivity committee, who must choose the representatives of the different commissions that to develop during the patron feast of the patron saint "San Mateo". Which, this year we have the commissions of: religious, cultural, fireworks, bands of musicians, folk dances, sports afternoons and bullfighting afternoons. Although, the majority of the contumacina population only participates in the different activities that the organization in charge carries out. However, there is still a desire in the Contumacino people to support; and also, the devotion to the patron saint San Mateo.En la presente tesis se realizó con la finalidad de explicar la religiosidad popular en la fiesta patronal al apóstol San Mateo del distrito de Contumazá, provincia de Contumazá, departamento Cajamarca – 2019; los cuales están referidos a demostrar cómo se expresa su identidad cultural a través de la participación en la organización del comité de fiesta y de las diferentes comisiones en el desarrollo de la fiesta patronal. Los resultados obtenidos de la presente investigación en torno a la fiesta patronal al apóstol San Mateo, demuestra que los pobladores se identifican por su fe y devoción a su Patrón; basado en la creencia y la confianza que le tienen. Por lo tanto, los devotos depositan sus dolencias, necesidades; y el deseo de lograr ser escuchadas sus peticiones. Además, son las organizaciones responsables de realizar la festividad a través de: la hermandad, y junto al comité de fiesta quienes se encargan de tomar las medidas necesarias para el buen desarrollo. Siendo, el comité de fiesta, quienes deberán elegir a los representantes de las diferentes comisiones que se desarrollen durante la fiesta patronal San Mateo. Las cuales, este año se tiene a las comisiones de: religiosa, cultural, fuegos artificiales, bandas de músicos, bailes populares, tardes deportivas y las tardes taurinas. Aunque, en su mayoría de la población contumacina solo participa de las diferentes actividades que la organización a cargo realiza.
