MATERIALS AND METHODS: An observational, descriptive and transversal study was carried out. The sample consisted of 126 asthmatic children’s caregivers who met the selection criteria and who were attended at external Pediatric offices of Hospital Belén de Trujillo and Hospital Regional Docente de Trujillo between july and november in 2018. The NAKQ questionnaire was used as an evaluation tool which allowed to assess the general knowledge, acute crisis, maintenance treatment and myths about asthma. RESULTS: 80.16% of the caregivers had a regular level of knowledge about bronchial asthma, 18.25% a deficient level and 1.59% a good level. CONCLUSIONS: The most of asthmatic children’s caregivers treated at third level Minsa hospitals of Trujillo present a regular level of knowledge about bronchial asthma.OBJETIVO: Determinar el nivel de conocimientos sobre asma en cuidadores de niños asmáticos atendidos en hospitales Minsa del tercer nivel de Trujillo-2018. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: Se realizó un estudio observacional, descriptivo y transversal. La muestra estuvo conformada por 126 cuidadores de niños asmáticos que cumplieron con los criterios de selección y que fueron atendidos en consulta externa de Pediatría del Hospital Belén de Trujillo y Hospital Regional Docente de Trujillo entre julio y noviembre del 2018. Se utilizó como instrumento de evaluación a la encuesta NAKQ, la cual permitió valorar los conocimientos generales, crisis aguda, tratamiento de mantenimiento y mitos sobre asma. RESULTADOS: El 80.16% de los cuidadores tuvieron un nivel regular de conocimientos sobre asma, el 18.25% un nivel deficiente y el 1.59% un nivel bueno.
