OBJECTIVE: To determine the influence of iron supplementation on glycosylated hemoglobin values in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus with iron deficiency anemia treated at the Internal Medicine service of the Víctor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital in the period November 2015- December2019. MATERIAL AND METHOD: Review of medical records and statistical analysis using Student's t test. SAMPLE SELECTION: The inclusion criteria of the research project are: Patients over 15 years of age seen in the outpatient office of the Internal Medicine service of the Victor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital in the period November 2015- December 2019; patients with a clinical diagnosis of type 2 Diabetes Mellitus for the first time; Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus with a diagnosis of iron deficiency anemia; Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients with iron deficiency anemia who received iron supplementation.La anemia ferropénica es un problema de salud importante en todo el mundo y puede llevar a incrementos en los valores de hemoglobina glicosilada por encima de 2%. PROBLEMA: ¿Cuál es la influencia de la suplementación con hierro en los valores de hemoglobina glicosilada en pacientes con Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2 con anemia ferropénica?.
