The aim was to describe and analyze the institutionalization of the nurse in the breast cancer program at the health center jurisdiction of the State of Guerrero. The method was descriptive qualitative study, institutional analysis method was used. Technical, in-depth interview. Analysis speeches were recorded speeches, interviews were organized EMIC. and ETIC. Allowing build subcategories and categories, proceeding to contrast and theorize the object of study. The empirical categories were three, the first is regarding the incorporation nurse program breast cancer, is considered the formal and informal way this is done, the functions assigned to it and the training of nursing staff. The second category, analyzes the process of care in relation to the hegemony of the goal in the context of care and commitment of caring nurse. Finally the third category addresses the imagination of the nurse in the breast cancer program. Results: The findings report that is not considered the instituted to make the formal assignment of nurses to the program, most nurses are not trained, the process of institutionalization is more attached to the instituted with outbreaks of instituting.Introducción. La investigación tuvo como objeto de estudio la “Institucionalización de la enfermera en el programa de cáncer de mama en la jurisdicción sanitaria centro del Estado de Guerrero”. El objetivo fue describir y analizar la institucionalización de la enfermera en el programa de cáncer de mama en la jurisdicción sanitaria centro del Estado de Guerrero. El Método fue, estudio cualitativo descriptivo, se utilizó el método de análisis institucional. Técnica, entrevista a profundidad. Análisis de discursos: Se grabaron los discursos, se organizaron las entrevistas en EMIC. y en ETIC. Permitiendo construir las subcategorías y categorías, procediendo a contrastar y teorizar el objeto de estudio. Las categorías empíricas fueron tres, la primera es referente a la incorporación de la enfermera al programa de cáncer de mama, se considera la manera formal e informal como esta se realiza, las funciones que se le asignan y la capacitación del personal de enfermería. La segunda categoría, analiza el proceso de cuidado, en relación a la hegemonía de la meta en el contexto del cuidado y la misión del cuidar de la enfermera. Finalmente la tercera categoría, aborda el imaginario de la enfermera en el programa de cáncer de mama.
