The seismic activity has been recorded by the seismic network in the North of Peru, which is part of the Network Seismic National (RSN) of the Geophysical Institute of Peru (IGP). Describes the procedures for the determination of the main hipocenters parameters of earthquakes: the time origin, location, magnitude, depth of focus. Two algorithms of hipocenters calculation, one numeric (EPI) and other graphic (EPIGRAF) are used. It describes the major earthquakes that occurred in the area of study, considering their effects on surface (damage and loss of life). It compiled a database of hipocenters between the years 2000 to 2009, with magnitudes Ml ≥ 4.0. The results have identified the areas of greatest seismic potential in surface and depthEn el presente estudio, se analiza la sismicidad del Norte y Nor Oriente del Perú. La actividad sísmica ha sido registrada por la Red Sísmica del Norte del Perú, que forma parte de la Red Sísmica Nacional (RSN) del Instituto Geofísico del Perú. Se describen los procedimientos para la determinación de los principales parámetros hipocentrales de los sismos: el tiempo origen, localización geográfica, magnitud, profundidad del foco. Se utilizan dos algoritmos de cálculo hipocentral, uno numérico (EPI) y el otro gráfico (EPIGRAF). Se describen los sismos mayores ocurridos en el área de estudio, considerando sus efectos en superficie (daños y pérdidas de vida). Se ha compilado una base de datos de hipocentros comprendida entre los años 2000 al 2009, con magnitudes Ml ≥ 4.0.
