Abstract
Objective: The present experimental study aimed to establish the in vitro antibacterial effect of the concentrations of the Plantago major ethanolic extract at 50% and 75% and the PerioAid® 0.12% on Fusobacterium nucleatum ATCC 25586. Materials and methods: The ethanol extract was prepared from Plantago major (Llantén). The antibacterial effect was determined in two concentrations at 50% and 75% and of PerioAid® 0.12% on Fusobacterium nucleatum ATCC 25586 by the susceptibility test and determination of the minimum inhibitory concentration. Results: The analysis of the results determined that the ethanol extract of Plantago major at 75% (10mm) and PerioAid® 0.12% (13.6mm) were sensitive and the ethanol extracts of Plantago major at 50% and 75% had effects Inhibitors. Conclusion: The concentration of the ethanol extract of Plantago major at 75% has similar in vitro antibacterial effect as the PerioAid® 0.12% on Fusobacterium nucleatum ATCC 25586.
