Abstract
tratamientos orales
The objective of this research work was to determine the efficacy of music therapy in the control of anxiety during the dental treatment of children attended in the Second Specialty Unit in Stomatology. An experimental study type controlled, prospective clinical trial, with a quantitative and applied approach was carried out. The population consisted of 52 children of both sexes, who were included in the study after signing an informed consent and consent from the parents. The children underwent dental prophylaxis treatment with and without music therapy with an interval of 1 week. Vital signs and Anxiety level were measured before and after the treatment. The melody used was Mozart's Concerto No. 21 Andante, and the Facial Image Scale was used to measure Anxiety. The results show 80.8% efficacy of music therapy in the management of anxiety in children undergoing prophylactic treatment, over 34,6% for treatment without music therapy, with a highly significant statistical difference. It is concluded that Music Therapy is effective in reducing anxiety in patients undergoing dental prophylaxis treatment and could be used for other oral treatments.
