dc.description.abstractObjetivo: La presente investigación es descriptiva y transversal, tuvo como objetivo determinar la prevalencia de maloclusión y la necesidad de tratamiento ortodóntico en escolares de 12 años de I.E públicas del distrito de Trujillo. El grupo de estudio estuvo conformado por 352 escolares de 9 instituciones educativas. Materiales y métodos: La evaluación se realizó en los ambientes designados por cada institución educativa, Se utilizó una ficha elaborada para la investigación que evalúa dos aspectos, el primero la maloclusión, para lo cual se tuvo en cuenta la clasificación de Angle y el segundo la necesidad de tratamiento ortodóntico para el que se tuvo en cuenta el Índice de Necesidad de Tratamiento Ortodóntico (IOTN). Resultados: Los resultados obtenidos establecen que el 69% de escolares presentan maloclusión clase I, 19% de clase II y 11,9% de clase III, para el IOTN, en cuanto al componente estético el 84.1% eligió las fotografías en el rango 1-4 (poco o nada necesario), 13.1% el rango 5-7 (moderado o en el límite requerido) y el 2.8% el rango 8-10 (tratamiento requerido); y respecto al componente de salud el 27,3% pertenece al grado 1 (sin necesidad) ,el 46,9% al grado 2 (poco necesario), el 20.2% al grado 3 (necesidad moderada), 5.4% al grado 4 (necesidad de tratamiento) y solo el 0.3% al grado 5 (gran necesidad de tratamiento). Conclusión: Se logra concluir que hay una relación directa entre la clase de maloclusión y la necesidad de tratamiento ortodóntico.es_PE
dc.description.abstractObjective: The present investigation is descriptive and transversal, aimed to determine the prevalence of malocclusion and the need for orthodontic treatment in schoolchildren of 12 years of public I.E. of Trujillo district. The study group consisted of 352 school children from 9 educational institutions. Materials and methods: The evaluation was carried out in the environments designated by each educational institution. An elaborated card was used for the investigation that evaluates two aspects, the first the malocclusion, for which the classification of Angle was taken into account and the second the Orthodontic treatment need for which the Orthodontic Treatment Necessity Index (IOTN) was taken into account. Results: The results obtained show that 69% of schoolchildren present class I malocclusion, 19% class II and 11.9% class III, for the IOTN, in the aesthetic component 84.1% chose the photographs in the range 1 -4 (little or nothing necessary), 13.1% the range 5-7 (moderate or in the required limit) and 2.8% the range 8-10 (treatment required); and with respect to the health component, 27.3% belongs to grade 1 (without necessity), 46.9% to grade 2 (little needed), 20.2% to grade 3 (moderate need), 5.4% to grade 4 ( need for treatment) and only 0.3% to grade 5 (great need for treatment).
