Abstract
Objetivo: El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar el nivel de conocimientos sobre el manejo odontológico en gestantes, de los estudiantes de la Escuela Académico Profesional de Estomatología de la Universidad Nacional de Trujillo en el año 2015. Material y métodos: El estudio descriptivo y transversal incluyó una muestra de 87 estudiantes de Estomatología, a quienes se les aplicó una encuesta estructurada y previamente validada. Para el análisis de datos se hizo uso de la prueba Chi-cuadrado. Resultados: Analizados los datos, se encontró que, el 67.8% de estudiantes presenta un nivel de conocimiento regular, el 26.4% un nivel de conocimiento malo y el 5.8% un nivel de conocimiento elevado. Al evaluar la relación entre año de estudio y nivel de conocimientos se evidenció que de 3ro año a 6to año los estudiantes disminuyen las limitaciones en cuanto a los conocimientos sobre el manejo odontológico en gestantes; sin embargo, esta cantidad de estudiantes es mínima. No existe diferencias estadísticas significativas entre nivel de conocimientos y género. En el nivel de conocimientos respecto al género los varones tienen un nivel de conocimiento mayor. Conclusión: La mayoría de los alumnos presenta un nivel de conocimiento regular (67.8%).

Material and methods: The descriptive and transversal study It included a sample of 87 Stomatology students, to whom a structured and previously validated survey was applied. For the data analysis, the Chi-square test was used. Results: After analyzing the data, it was found that 67.8% of students presented a level of regular knowledge, 26.4% had a bad knowledge level and 5.8% had a high level of knowledge. When evaluating the relationship between year of study and level of knowledge, it was evident that from the 3rd year to the 6th year, students reduce the limitations regarding knowledge about dental management in pregnant women; however, this number of students is minimal. There are no significant statistical differences between level of knowledge and gender. At the level of knowledge regarding gender, males have a higher level of knowledge. Conclusion: The majority of the students presents a level of regular knowledge (67.8%).
