Abstract
Objetivo: Determinar la condición de las competencias cognitivas y socioafectivas de los ingresantes al programa de Estomatología de la Universidad Nacional de Trujillo, 2016. Material y métodos: Se elaboró un cuestionario-encuesta ad hoc destinado a evaluar competencias cognitivas y socioafectivas en estudiantes ingresantes a un programa de estudios. Se encuestó a todos los estudiantes del primer año académico de la Facultad de Estomatología de la Universidad Nacional de Trujillo matriculados en el año 2016. Resultados: Respecto a las competencias cognitivas, se encontró acerca de los ingresantes que casi siempre: 60.9% trata de relacionar la nueva información con elementos de la vida cotidiana, 69.6% busca caminos alternativos para solucionar problemas, 65.2% busca la manera de que los ruidos externos no impidan su estudio, 56.5% tiene un rendimiento académico bueno a pesar de tener problemas personales; que resulta fácil para 47.8% tomar nota de la ficha bibliográfica de libros o revistas que consulta y para 56.5% considerar que lo que estudia tiene relación con sus intereses; que resulta ni fácil ni difícil: para 52.2% ser capaz de encontrar una semejanza o patrón en un conjunto de hechos, para 47.8% mantener su atención sin ningún problema durante toda la clase, para 60.9% ser capaz de relacionar contenidos de distintas materias; y que resulta difícil para 43.5% lograr poner atención a algo cuando existe mucho ruido alrededor. Respecto a las competencias socioafectivas, se encontró acerca de los ingresantes que siempre: 65.2% se interesa por las opiniones de los demás, 73.9% tiene metas definidas en su vida, 43.5% defiende sus opiniones ante sus amigos, y 69.6% demuestra su alegría. Conclusiones: Los estudiantes ingresantes al programa de Estomatología de la Universidad Nacional de Trujillo en el año 2016, en su mayoría aplica las competencias cognitivas y socioafectivas; aunque para ellos, en su mayoría la aplicación de las competencias cognitivas resulta espontánea, la concentración resulta de difícil aplicación.

Material and methods: An ad hoc questionnaire was designed to evaluate cognitive and socioaffective competences in incoming students in a study program. All the students of the first academic year of the Faculty of Stomatology of the National University of Trujillo enrolled in the year 2016 were surveyed. Results: Regarding the cognitive competences, it was found about the entrants that almost always: 60.9% try to relate the new information with elements of everyday life, 69.6% seek alternative ways to solve problems, 65.2% look for ways that external noises don't impede their study, 56.5% have a good academic performance despite having personal problems; that is easy to 47.8% take note of the bibliography of books or journals that they consult and to 56.5% consider that what they study is related to their interests; that is neither easy nor difficult: to 52.2% be able to find a similarity or pattern in a set of facts, to 47.8% keep their attention without any problem throughout the class, to 60.9% be able to relate contents of different subjects; and that it is difficult to 43.5% get attention to something when there is a lot of noise around. Regarding socioaffective competences, it was found about the entrants that always: 65.2% are interested in the opinions of others, 73.9% have defined goals in their lives, 43.5% defend their opinions in front of their friends, and 69.6% show their joy. Conclusions: Incoming students in the Stomatology Program of the National University of Trujillo in 2016, mostly apply cognitive and socio-affective competences; although for them, the application of cognitive competences is mostly spontaneous, concentration is difficult to apply.
