Abstract
Objective: The present study of basic, explanatory and cross-sectional type; Had as main objective to determine if there is a Relationship between the Prevalence of Caries and the Soft Plate Index in children of 3 to 6 years of Garden 1663 of the District of Víctor Larco Herrera in the year 2017. Materials and methods: The sample consisted of 48 children aged 3 to 6 years who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. A data sheet was used to record the odontogram - index ceo-d - caries prevalence and the modified soft plaque index (BPI) of each child, the results were presented in double entry statistical tables. Results: The data showed a mean ceo-d of 4.19 classifying at a moderate severity level and an average of 1.37 PMI, predominating a poor oral state. In addition, a high prevalence of dental caries was found in children with bad modified plaque index (IPP) (54.1%), with 73.7% of men, 33.3% of women, 52.2% of children aged 3 to 4 years and 57.1% Children from 5 to 6 years. The non-parametric chi square test was used to determine the significance ratio of these variables. Conclusions: A statistically significant relationship was found between Caries Prevalence and the Modified Soft Plate Index (BPI) (p <0.01)
