Abstract
Juss. “neem” con 10,3677 ± 0,1555 mg EQ/g MS.
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to quantify the total polyphenols in the hydroalcoholic extracts of seven medicinal plants from the La Libertad region. The medicinal plants under study were collected from the localities of Galindo, Laredo and Trigopampa, Otuzco in the La Libertad region. A hydroalcoholic extract was prepared at 70° GL by the ultrasound bath method. Total polyphenols and flavonoids were quantified by the Folin-Ciocalteau method and complex formation with 2 % AlCl3, respectively. The percentage yield of dry extract obtained per 100 g of dry sample was highest in Artemisia absinthium L. "wormwood" with 34.4471 % and lowest in Cymbopogon citratus (DC.) Stapf "lemon verbena" with 20.9758 %. Total polyphenols were expressed in milligram gallic acid equivalents per gram of dry sample (mg GAE/g DM); the highest content was reported in the plant species Eucalyptus globulus L. "eucalyptus" with a value of 132.4182 ± 5.2542 mg GAE/g DM, while the lowest value was reported in Azadirachta indica A. Juss. "neem" with 18.6689 ± 1.6247 mg GAE/g DM. Total flavonoids were expressed in milligrams quercetin equivalent per gram of dry sample (mg QE/g DM); the highest flavonoid content was reported in the plant species Rosmarinus officinalis L. "rosemary" with a value of 105.3043 ± 1.28mg QE/g DM, while the lowest value was found in Azadirachta indica A. Juss. "neem" with 10.3677 ± 0.1555 mg QE/g DM.
