Abstract

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that occurs at any age. It is associated with several important medical conditions, including cardiometabolic diseases, so a comprehensive approach to its treatment is necessary. The study of new biomarkers such as the neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio seeks to predict the severity of the disease, allowing adequate management from diagnosis in addition to anticipating the response to therapy, which would facilitate the implementation of strategies that optimize treatment in health services. The neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio is an accessible, rapid, non-invasive and easily measured inflammatory biomarker that could play a fundamental role not only in evaluating the severity of psoriasis but also in assessing the effectiveness of treatments.
