Abstract

Abstract To determine whether there is a relationship between the neutrophil-lymphocyte index (NLI) and disease activity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Methods: Cross-sectional analytical observational study in patients with RA. Clinical characteristics, DAS28 and NLI scores were analyzed, and the relationship between the two was assessed by correlation tests and linear regression analysis. Results: Fifty-two patients with a diagnosis of RA were included. The mean age of the patients was 50.35 ± 15.87 years, with female predominance (96.15%). The mean DAS28 score was 2.62 ± 0.94, with 23.08% with low activity and 28.85% with moderate activity. The mean NLI was 2.08 ± 0.73. A moderate-high positive correlation was observed between NLI and DAS28 (r = 0.658; p < 0.001). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between NLI and disease activity in RA patients, suggesting its usefulness as a complementary marker in clinical management.
