Abstract
The general objective of this study was to determine the relationship between nurses' level of knowledge about neurodevelopment and nursing care of hospitalized premature infants in a public health institution in Lima. It is a quantitative, descriptive, and correlational research, evaluating 25 nurses by means of a questionnaire and a checklist to measure their knowledge and the care provided to the premature. The relationship of variables was measured with the Chi-square statistical test. The results showed that no nurse had a low level of knowledge; 52% had medium knowledge and 48% had high knowledge. In addition, 92% of the nurses provided adequate care, while only 8% showed inadequate care. The chi-square value was 94.196, with a bilateral significance of 0.002, indicating a very strong and significant correlation between nurses' knowledge and the quality of care provided. It is concluded that greater knowledge of neurodevelopment among nurses significantly improves the quality of care provided to hospitalized premature infant
