Abstract

The population consisted of 35 nurses, to whom two instruments were applied: the Nursing Stress Scale (NSS) stress level assessment scale and the COPE coping level measurement scale, the data were processed, analyzed and statistically interpreted using the specialized package SPSS v. 7 and to establish the relationship between both study variables, the Spearman correlation coefficient (bilateral) was used, since both variables present a non-normal distribution, reaching the following conclusions: 34.5% (10) of the nursing staff presented low and medium work stress respectively. Regarding coping strategies, 41% (12) applied them at a low level and finally, when both variables were related, it was found that there was no statistically significant relationship
