dc.descriptionHIV testing is one of the pillars in the control of the disease, however key populations such as the MSM population do not perform it regularly, reports indicate that only 7% of this population performs one test annually in our country. Objective: To know the motivations and barriers that influence the performance of an HIV test in MSM patients. Materials and Methods: Descriptive, cross-sectional and prospective study. During the period April - September 2016, questionnaires were applied to the MSM patients who attended the CERITS of the HRDT, socio-demographic characteristics were collected and the acceptance of a list of 11 motivations and 15 barriers was evaluated. Results: 105 questionnaires were collected; the most accepted motivations were 'I want to check my health' followed by 'I would like to know if I am HIV positive'; The main barriers were ‘I am afraid of the consequences of a positive test result' and ‘A positive result would turn my life upside down'. Conclusion: The main motivation was 'I want to check my health' and the main barrier was I am afraid of the consequences of a positive test result'es_PE
dc.description.abstractLa realización de pruebas de detección de VIH es uno de los pilares en el control de esta enfermedad, sin embargo poblaciones claves como la población HSH no la realiza de manera regular, reportes indican que solo el 7% de esta población en nuestro país se realiza una prueba anualmente. Objetivo: Conocer las motivaciones y barreras que influyen en la realización de una prueba de detección de VIH en los pacientes HSH. Materiales y Métodos: Estudio descriptivo, transversal y prospectivo. Durante el período abril – setiembre del 2016, se aplicaron cuestionarios a los pacientes HSH que acudieron al CERITS del HRDT, recolectándose características socio-demográficas y valorándose la aceptación de una lista de 11 motivaciones y 15 barreras. Resultados: se recolectaron 105 cuestionarios, las motivaciones con mayor aceptación fueron ‘Deseo chequear mi salud’ seguida de ‘Quisiera saber si soy VIH positivo’; las barreras principales fueron ‘Tengo miedo de las consecuencias que podría traer si el resultado es positivo’ y ‘Si el resultado es positivo, eso cambiaría totalmente mi vida’. Conclusión: la principal motivación fue ‘Deseo chequear mi salud’ y la principal barrera fue ‘Tengo miedo de las consecuencias que podría traer si el resultado es positivoes_PE
