Faltas éticas en estudiantes de pregrado de medicina

Abstract
En estudiantes de pregrado, la falta de tiempo y asesoría limitan la investigación e integridad científica de los estudiantes; llevándolos a cometer diversas faltas éticas durante sus estudios de pregrado.
Objetivo: Determinar los factores asociados a cometer faltas éticas en estudiantes de pregrado de medicina.
Métodos: 1002 estudiantes de medicina de 8 universidades peruanas fueron encuestados sobre las faltas éticas que ellos habían cometido durante el pregrado y la percepción de las faltas cometidas por sus compañeros; ambos casos se relacionó con variables sociodemográficas, académicas y de desarrollo científico.
Resultados: La edad media fue de 20,8 años (DE: 2,7 años), 445 (44,4%) fueron mujeres. 538 (53,8%) reportan haber asistido a eventos científico. 983 (98,1%) estudiantes reportaron haber cometido al menos una falta ética durante su pregrado. La falta más reportada (67%) fue dejar que sus compañeros copien de su examen. Ser miembro de agrupaciones estudiantiles se asoció con cometer menor número de faltas (RPc IC 95%: 0,46 (0,34-0,60), p<0,001). Haber participado en eventos científicos se relacionó con identificar menor número de faltas en otros estudiantes de su entorno.
Conclusión: Casi la totalidad de estudiantes de medicina han cometido faltas éticas durante su pregrado. Existen muy pocas variables relacionadas con cometer faltas éticas durante el pregrado de medicina.
Abstract In undergraduate students, the lack of time and advice limit the research and scientific integrity of the students; leading them to commit several ethical misconducts during their undergraduate studies. Objective: To determine the factors associated with committing ethical failures in medical undergraduate students. Methods: 1002 medical students from 8 Peruvian universities were surveyed about the ethical misconducts they had committed during undergraduate and the perception of misconducts committed by their peers; both cases were related to sociodemographic, academic and scientific development variables. Results: The average age was 20.8 years (SD: 2.7 years), 445 (44.4%) were women. 538 (53.8%) report having attended scientific events. 983 (98.1%) students reported having committed at least one ethical offense during their medical undergraduate. The most reported failure (67%) was to let his classmates cheat on their test. Being a member of student groups was associated with committing fewer absences (RPc 95% CI: 0.46 (0.34-0.60), p<0.001). Having participated in scientific events was related to identifying fewer absences in other students in their environment. Conclusion: Almost all medical students have committed ethical faults during their undergraduate. There are very few variables related to committing ethical failures in undergraduate medical students.
