dc.description.abstractLa uroflujometría (UF) es una técnica no invasiva para evaluar a los pacientes que presentan síntomas del tracto urinario inferior (LUTS), a través de parámetros, como la tasa de flujo máximo (Qmax) que determina el grado obstrucción de la salida vesical. La escala internacional de síntomas prostáticos (IPSS), encuesta autoaplicada, permite evaluar la severidad de los síntomas en base al puntaje obtenido, que junto con el resultado del Qmax permitirá un diagnóstico más preciso y ayudará a determinar la modalidad de tratamiento más adecuada. OBJETIVO: Determinar la relación entre el puntaje internacional de síntomas prostáticos y uroflujometría en hiperplasia benigna de próstata (HPB) MATERIAL Y MÉTODO: Estudio analítico transversal, que incluyeron varones con HBP que consultaron por LUTS y asistieron al Hospital Regional Docente de Trujillo, entre noviembre del 2021 a marzo del 2023, que cumplan con los criterios de selección. La gravedad de los síntomas se evaluó mediante el IPSS autoaplicado. Asimismo, se realizó la medición del Qmax mediante el equipo de uroflujometría “Ecud Ace”. RESULTADOS: 79 pacientes cumplieron con los criterios de selección del estudio, con una edad media de 58.6 años (DE 9,1), con rango de 50-82 años. El 51% de pacientes presentaron síntomas leves, 32.9% moderados y 15.2% severos. El 57% presentó un flujo no obstruido, 25.3% presentó flujo equivocado y 17.7% flujo obstruido. Se halló una relación estadística significativa (X2 =36.76, p < 0.001) entre los resultados de IPSS y UF. Adicionalmente, se halló una relación estadísticamente significativa (X2 =21.74, p = 0.0014) entre el grupo etario y grado de severidad. CONCLUSIONES: Hubo una relación significativa entre el grado de severidad por IPSS y el grado de obstrucción del flujo por Qmax de pacientes con HPB en el HRDT.
dc.description.abstractAbstract Uroflowmetry (UF) is a non-invasive technique to evaluate patients presenting with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), through parameters such as peak flow rate (Qmax) which determines the degree of bladder outlet obstruction. The International Prostate Symptom Scale (IPSS), a self-applied survey, allows to evaluate the severity of symptoms based on the score obtained, which together with the Qmax result will allow a more accurate diagnosis and help to determine the most appropriate treatment modality. OBJECTIVE: To determine the relation between the international prostate symptom score and uroflowmetry in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). MATERIAL AND METHOD: Cross-sectional analytical study, which included men with BPH who consulted for LUTS and attended the Hospital Regional Docente de Trujillo, between November 2021 and March 2023, who met the selection criteria. Symptom severity was assessed using the self-applied IPSS. Likewise, Qmax was measured using the "Ecud Ace" uroflowmetry equipment. RESULTS: 79 patients met the study selection criteria, with a mean age of 58.6 years (SD 9.1), with a range of 50-82 years. 51% of patients presented mild symptoms, 32.9% moderate and 15.2% severe. 57% had non-obstructed flow, 25.3% had equivocal flow and 17.7% had obstructed flow. A statistically significant relationship (X2 =36.76, p < 0.001) was found between IPSS and UF results. Additionally, a statistically significant relationship (X2 =21.74, p = 0.0014) was found between age group and degree of severity. CONCLUSIONS: There was a significant relation between the degree of severity by IPSS and the degree of flow obstruction by Qmax of BPH patients at HRDT.
