Abstract
Dengue is transmitted by the Aedes aegypti vector, the increase in the population of this vector represents an entomological risk within urban and rural areas and therefore the probability of getting sick from this virus; In order to describe the current situation of the entomological risk of Aedes aegypti in the Amazonas Region, the information of the Aedes index for the period 2018 - 2023 was evaluated. The population of the A. aegypti vector present in the localities of the provinces of Condorcanqui, Bagua, Utcubamba and the district of Jazán was used and as a sample the number of homes with the presence of the vector in its different stages of the life cycle: eggs, larvae, pupae and adults. In the 2023 period, a high entomological risk for dengue transmission was obtained, ending with an average of an Aedes Index (AI) of 2.3% compared to the years 2018 - 2022; the province of Condorcanqui being the one with the highest AI (5.0%) in relation to the other provinces of Amazonas, placing it on a scale of Entomological Scenario II - High risk, as well as the provinces of Utcubamba and Bagua with an AI of (2.6% and 2.1%). It is concluded that there was an increase in entomological risk in the last two years during the 6 years evaluated (2018 - 2023).
