Abstract
This research focused on the design and construction of a prototype wire drawing machine for copper conductors to support research projects in the laboratory of the prestigious School of Mechanical Engineering at the National University of Trujillo. To achieve this, the design parameters and operational conditions of the laboratory were defined, determining the optimal machine configuration. Subsequently, the design and selection of mechanical and electronic components were carried out, followed by the development of basic and detailed engineering drawings. Once the machine was built, performance tests were conducted, and finally, an operation manual was prepared, including a preventive maintenance plan. The entire process was carried out in compliance with the VDI 2221 standard and using 3D modeling software. was S/ 4,620.00. The prototype wire drawing machine is a valuable resource for the laboratory, allowing Mechanical Engineering students to conduct wire drawing tests and gain practical experience in forming processes. Its implementation will facilitate the adoption of more advanced teaching methodologies, significantly improving academic training in the field. The machine weighs 160 kg, is detachable, and easy to transport. Its manufacturing cost
