dc.description | HIV infection is a global health problem, people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) often experience depression, with direct implications on the clinical progression of the disease. Studies have been conducted on the factors associated with depression in PLWHA; showing different results according to the socio-economic context of each place. OBJECTIVE: To identify the factors associated with depression in people living with HIV/AIDS who receive Highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). MATERIAL AND METHOD: Observational, cross-sectional, analytical study of cases and controls; the clinical records of 240 PLWHA (80 cases and 160 controls) who receive HAART were surveyed and reviewed at the Hospital Regional Docente de Trujillo, attended during the period March - July 2018. RESULTS: After performing the logistic regression analysis, the following variables were associated: Moderate-Severe anxiety (OR 5.085, 95% CI 2.492 - 10.377), feeling stigmatized (OR 6.341, 95% CI 3.172 - 12.675), coping styles - emotional coping (OR 4.210, IC 95 % 2,082 - 8,509) and alcohol dependence (OR 2,273, 95% CI 1,055 - 4,897). CONCLUSIONS: Anxiety, feeling stigmatized, coping styles and alcohol dependence are factors associated with depression in people living with HIV/AIDS who receive HAART. | es_PE |
| es_PE |
