dc.descriptionABSTRACT In the present research work, the wind characteristics of the coastal zone of the province of Paita, Piura, Peru, have been studied in order to evaluate the mechanical power. Speed and wind direction data were collected during two years (2015 and 2016) by means of anemometers installed at heights 24, 49 and 58 m. The data of the wind magnitude were collected every 10 minutes and with this data, frequency distribution tables, histograms were constructed, applying the Weibull probability distribution model. With the scale and shape factors of Weibull the mechanical power density was calculated. With respect to the direction of the wind the so-called "wind roses" were built. The general behavior of the wind speed and direction was similar for the years 2015 and 2016, observing that the lowest values of the speed occurred in the month of March and the highest values in the month of May. The direction of the wind was north west, with a predominance of north-north-west. The annual averages of the wind speed at heights of 24, 49 and 58 m for 2015 were: 7.9, 8.1 and 8.4 m / s in summer, 9.2, 9.5 and 10.2 m / s in autumn, 8.7, 9.1 and 9.3 m / s in winter, 8.7, 9.1 and 9.4 m / s in spring and 8.48, 8.84 and 9.11 m / s throughout the year. Similar values were obtained for the year 2016. These data indicate that the coastal area of the province of Paita shows great potential for the use of wind energy.es_PE
dc.description.abstractRESUMEN En el presente trabajo de investigación, se ha estudiado las características del viento de la zona costera de la provincia de Paita, Piura, Perú, con la finalidad de evaluar la potencia mecánica. Se recolecto datos de velocidad y dirección del viento durante dos años (2015 y 2016) mediante anemómetros instalados a las alturas 24, 49 y 58 m. Los datos de la magnitud del viento se recolectaron cada 10 minutos y con estos datos se construyeron tablas de distribución de frecuencia, histogramas, aplicando el modelo de distribución de probabilidades de Weibull. Con los factores de escala y forma de Weibull se calculó la densidad de potencia mecánica. Con respecto a la dirección del viento se construyeron las llamadas “rosas de viento”. El comportamiento general de la velocidad y dirección del viento fue similar para los años 2015 y 2016 observándose que los valores más bajos de la velocidad ocurrieron en el mes de marzo y los más altos en el mes de mayo. La dirección del viento fue norte oeste, con predominio de norte-norte-oeste. Los promedios anuales de la velocidad del viento a las alturas de 24, 49 y 58 m para el 2015 fueron: 7.9, 8.1 y 8.4 m/s en verano, 9.2, 9.5 y 10.2 m/s en otoño, 8.7, 9.1 y 9.3 m/s en invierno, 8.7, 9.1 y 9.4 m/s en primavera y 8.48, 8.84 y 9.11 m/s durante todo el año. Valores similares se obtuvieron para el año 2016. Estos datos indican que la zona costera de la provincia de Paita evidencia un gran potencial para el aprovechamiento de la energía del viento.es_PE
