Abstract

Material and methods: An analytical, cross-sectional study was carried out in which 142 patients with Covid-19 were included, according to selection criteria which were divided according to the presence or absence of prolonged stay in the ICU and the risk Nutritional defined as high and low during the period March 2020- June 2021. To determine the association between both variables, the chi-square distribution test was used. Results: The 59.2% of the patients with Covid-19 presented a low nutritional risk and 40.8% a high nutritional risk, in addition 66.9% a prolonged stay and 33.1% a non-prolonged stay. An association was found between high nutritional risk and prolonged stay (p < 0.05). There was an association of elevated D-dimer, nutritional objective achieved, time of illness before admission, APACHE II scale score and SOFA with prolonged stay (p < 0.05). Conclusion: There is an association between nutrition and stay in the Intensive Care Unit in patients with Covid-19 risk of the Trujillo Regional Teaching Hospital.
