Abstract
This is a quantitative, descriptive, correlational, cross-sectional research, with the purpose of determining the relationship between the level of knowledge and the practice of nurses in percutaneous catheter care in the neonatal intensive care unit. The sample universe is made up of 21 nursing graduates; data collection was carried outthrough the application of two instruments on the knowledge and practice of nurses working in the neonatal intensive care unit. The validation of the instrument wascarried out by means of the judgment of 3 experts. The results obtained were processed using the IBM SPSS STATISTICS version 25 program and statistical tables and graphs were created. To determine the relationship of the variables, Pearson's correlation was used, with a significance level (p≤ 0.05). In relation to the level of knowledge of nurses in the care of the percutaneous catheter in neonatal intensive care, it was found that: 72% presented a medium level of knowledge, and that both the low level and the high level have 14%. Regarding the practices of nurses, 95% demonstrated adequate practice and 5% showed inadequate practices in the care of the percutaneous catheter in neonatal intensive care. It was concluded that the relationship between the level of knowledge and practices of nurses regarding percutaneous catheter care is positive and highly significant (p=0.001).
