Abstract
ABSTRACT This research work aimed to evaluate the agreement in the use of carbapenems within the medical hospitalization service in a hospital in Trujillo with the Clinical Practice Guidelines during January and August 2022. The parameters evaluated were indication, dose, dosage interval and duration of treatment, for which 102 medical reports of carbapenems were selected from a total of 176. To evaluate agreement, the WHO/PAHO Guide for the Treatment of Infectious Diseases, the Sanford Guide for Antimicrobial Therapeutics and The Hospital Guide to Antimicrobial Therapy in Adults. Infectious diseases with indication for carbapenems were hospital-acquired pneumonia, septic shock, complicated urinary tract infection, and liver abscess. It was found that the indications for carbapenems have a concordance of 100%, 80% and 80% with clinical practice guidelines, respectively. The doses have an agreement of 100%, 80% and 80% respectively. The dosage intervals have an agreement of 100%, 80% and 80%, respectively. The duration of treatment has an agreement of 80%, 80% and 60% respectively. Concluding, that the use of carbapenems within the medical hospitalization service in a hospital in Trujillo agrees in the parameters of indication, dose, frequency of administration and duration of treatment by 86.6% with the clinical practice guidelines, during the study period.
