Abstract
ABSTRACT The objective of this report was to describe the supervision and quality control functions in the sugar packaging operation, where the supervisor of the area must ensure compliance with the packaging program by verifying the quality parameters of the product. The production process of the packaging operation is also described. Within the process there are two paths: the major packaging that follows the stages of sugar reception, bagging, sewing, coding and storage and is differentiated because its finished product is in presentations of greater volume and weight; on the other hand, there is fractional packaging that is governed according to sugar reception, screening, storage in hoppers of packaging machines, bagging, packaging, palletizing and storage and where presentations from 250gr to 5kg are worked. Likewise, improvements were made to the production process by modifying the frequency of preventive maintenance of the packaging machines, which gave us a 10% improvement in performance. On the other hand, a proposal was also made to change the frequency of equipment inspection (sieve) to reduce losses generated by a mesh breakage by up to 80%.
