Abstract
ABSTRACT It is in this context that the present work is framed in turn on the need of older adults to believe in them, the personal leadership they show, the time and belonging to the institution and the decision-making they assume to achieve an active participation and their personal and collective recognition for socialization and interaction with other people, avoiding isolation and promoting their participation and social integration. In this way, it was necessary in the first place, to know the elderly members of this institution, to know what their characteristics and factors are in relation to leadership, assertive communication, resource management, institutional culture in such a way as to determine what they require for empower yourself and improve your current condition according to your potential. As we work in the theoretical framework of this research today and increasingly, institutions are required that meet the minimum and necessary requirements to provide adequate care to the elderly and on their part the return with their attitude and work collective managing the resources assigned to it to enhance its activities. This implies, among other things, ensuring an environment that provides them with the basic protection requirements, spaces for workshops, in addition to a playful, participatory and therapeutic attention appropriate to their characteristics. It should be noted that not all older adults have the same health or economic characteristics, thus we find older adults with self-supporting functionality and others not, as well as older adults who lack income or those who receive it are well below what it is required to cover the required needs; ceasing to be self-sufficient. It is in this plane that the State, in its eagerness to ensure the right and the common good of society, implements and supervises the establishments that provide special attention to the elderly, such as the CAM or the Elderly Center and fulfill the function of protector to this population due to its vulnerability. The content of the research, therefore, is handled in chapters: first, the statement of the problem that gives rise to this research and its corresponding foundation and the objectives set for this study and to know to what extent the Centers for the Elderly are lead by users for what they were created: As generational meeting spaces aimed at improving the aging process, through the development of family integration, intergenerational, sociocultural, recreational, productive and lifestyle programs for active aging and should be managed as such, focused on the well-being of the elderly, which in the last decade is being experienced as a process of demographic transition towards aging. Second, the methodological strategy used during the research is described. And thirdly, the theoretical framework that supported this study. Subsequently, the analysis or presentation of the results that are related to the empirical data obtained from the surveys carried out on the elderly in said Institutions. Finally, the results of the research are presented regarding the objectives set and ends with the contributions of social work to this emerging social problem
